San Luis Obispo's Women's March rally attracts thousands

An estimated 4,000 people gathered in downtown San Luis Obispo Saturday for the 2018 Women’s March event. Organized by the group Women’s March SLO, a rally replaced the march of 2017, which motivated an estimated 10,000 to walk around downtown in the pouring rain.

This year’s event, held in Mission Plaza in front of the Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, included speakers and performers. Many attendees wore the pink hats synonymous with the Women’s March movement and carried handmade signs celebrating “resistance” to the Trump administration. Booths lined an adjacent street, handing out information on local nonprofits and other organizations, and local musician Erin English wrapped up the afternoon’s festivities with a concert.
